Investments

The investment scope available to a SSAS is very wide. The Trustees need not be investment experts, and may appoint a suitably authorised investment manager for this purpose.

The general areas into which Trustees can invest are as follows:

• Commercial property
• Loans to an employing or associated company
• Direct quoted equities
• Unquoted equities
• Cash deposits
• Gilts and fixed interest stocks
• Unit trusts / OEICs
• Investment trusts
• Managed and With Profit funds
• Property funds and REITS
  

Certain types of investments, whilst being permitted, will carry heavy tax implications/consequences, and as such are not recommended. Examples of these include residential property and investments into personal chattels, e.g. antiques, works of art, and vintage cars. Please discuss with us the viability of such investments.
